The Kentucky Oaks, a Grade 1 stakes race, is run the Friday before the Kentucky Derby and is considered to be one of the premier event in racing that many people outside of Louisville, Ky know aobut. The Kentucky Oaks covers 1⅛ miles (1811 meters) and features the best three year old Thoroughbred fillies from around the world.
